What size drill bit to make the hole?

The bolt in the Leveller is 1”. So the hole must be bigger, but not too big.  We recommend a 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” hole/drill bit.  We also sell them at a great price on this site.

How deep does the hole need to be?

The bolt in the Leveller is goes a maximum of 4” into the post.  So if you go just a bit deeper than that you will be good.

Do I need a wrench?

Not typically for a new installation.  You can hand tighten the Leveller in the space and then attach.  If there is sagging of the deck for any reason in the future, the screws can be removed and then use wrench to level.  Then reinstall screws.  If the Base Plate was used, there is no need to remove and reinstall the screws – simply level with a wrench.

What type of screws should I use?

The screws you are using for your deck installation will work fine.  We recommend the screws penetrate the post at least 2”.  Also, make sure if you are screwing into a pressure-treated post that you use the appropriate (ACQ) screws.
